Description of actual services provided
Short-term intensive training in Environmental and Social Management of Projects to 14 staffs of different Bangladesh’s private banks that are the World Bank’s financial intermediaries (FIs) for loans destined to realize PPP projects in Bangladesh. These FIs have to supervise the proper implementation of the World Bank’s Safeguard Policies. They have to make sure that the projects’ promoters do comply with Bangladesh’s environmental rules and regulations, and also with the Bank’s policies.Specific objectives
▪ Understand the principles, procedures and methods of environmental assessment and management for projects.▪ Acquire the necessary skills to evaluate the quality of the terms of reference (TOR) of an environmental impact assessment study.▪ Develop the ability to supervise the execution an environmental impact assessment study according to national regulations and World Bank’s guidelines.▪ Understand the process of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and be able to evaluate its results.▪ Ensure that the environmental aspects are included in the project preparation and implementation phases.
